In Phillipians 3:10-11 Paul says, "that I may know Him and the power of his resurrection, and may share in his sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection of the dead." Paul yearns for the day when his body will be resurrected in glory. He longs to share in the sufferings of Christ and identify with Christ in his death so as to attain to the resurrection of the dead. I am struck with the humility in Paul's words here. He is confident that Christ will carry him to completion and yet he humbly acknowledges that it's only by the grace of God that he would be given endurance to press on to the ultimate prize. The ultimate prize is Christ Himself and being fully united to Him in not only the pain of his suffering but the power and pleasure of his resurrection. Brothers and sisters, may we say with Paul, "I want to know Christ this much that by any means possible I will one day attain to the glorious ressurection of the dead."
