Slowing Down and Soaking In

Let me ask you an obvious question.  As a family, are you too busy?  Does it seem like you're always running and trying to keep up with everything on your calendar?  Ever feel the need to slow down and get away from the computer-clicking, email-checking, house-cleaning, kid-screaming, hectic pace of life you're living?

This past week Jaime and I went to Gatlinburg to finally celebrate our 10 year anniversary (which was July 25th)!  Let me tell you it was just what we needed.  We stayed at The Hippensteal Bed & Breakfast (highly recommend it) and enjoyed every minute of our three days away.  From the breathtaking scenery to the mouthwatering breakfasts each morning, we were blessed.

The point of this post, however, is not to make you jealous!  More than anything, our trip taught us to slow down and soak in God's mercies.  One morning as we sat out on our balconcy overlooking the Smoky Mountains, we spent some time together in prayer.  It was a sweet time of taking in all of what God has done in our lives over the past 10+ years and what we anticipate Him doing in the years to come.

We came away from our time together with a renewed sense of peace in God's providence and a renewed desire to move outward into the lives of others.

One more thing ... as we arrived back home, reality soon hit with three kids and a full schedule in front of us ... Jaime and I looked at each other as if to say, "We're not in Kansas anymore!"
