Last Saturday my oldest daughter (age 7) and I had the opportunity to make and serve Thanksgiving baskets for our community. We had a great time packing the boxes and delivering them to people in our town who really needed the food. My daughter absolutely loved it! She said to me, "Daddy, I love to see their faces when we give them the food." I think it hit her (and her daddy) that there's something about giving that makes us really happy. Or as Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." As Christmas approaches we hope to deliver Christmas baskets as well. We also like to gather our old clothes and toys and give them to Goodwill.
What are some ways that you serve others as a family (especially during the holiday season)?
