The popular media would have us to believe that everyone is outgrowing their need for God and that everyone whose everyone is moving towards Atheism. Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and the like are nearly everywhere you turn, whether it be radio, print or television.
And yet, even as the media tries to not-so-subtly push an atheistic agenda, issues of faith have risen to a new level of prominence in presidential politics. Nearly every candidate has made significant statements about how their faith impacts their daily lives. A recent Newsweek study claims that 70% of the people polled “want a president with strong religious faith” (this despite the fact that only 40% of people polled actually attend church regularly).
