The Scriptures
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith, life, and learning (2 Timothy 3:16). God reveals Himself in His Word, renews our understanding of Him, of ourselves, and of the world, and directs parents, churches, and educators in the training of children.
The Triune God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Exodus 20:2–3; Genesis 1:26). As His image-bearers, we affirm that it is our purpose and privilege to worship, honor, serve, and obey Him in every area of life.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35). We affirm His sinless life, miracles, teachings, and substitutionary atoning death. We believe that He died for our sins according to the Scriptures as our representative and substitute, and that all who believe in Him are justified through His shed blood (John 3:16; Romans 3:24).
The Work of Christ
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the crucified Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present ministry as our High Priest and Advocate (Matthew 28:6–7; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Luke 24:51; Hebrews 8:6; 5:9–10). We look with expectation to “that blessed hope,” the imminent personal return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
Humanity, Sin, and New Birth
We believe that human beings were created in the image of God; that they sinned and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all people are born with a sinful nature (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 1:32; 5:12). We believe that all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God, renewed to live faithfully before Him (1 Peter 1:23; John 1:12).
Creation and Human Identity
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct biological sexes, determined at conception, together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26–27). We affirm that creation is God’s good handiwork, entrusted to humanity for wise stewardship, service to our neighbor, and the glory of God.
Marriage, Sexuality, and the Family
We believe that marriage is ordained by God as the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, lifelong covenant (Genesis 2:18–25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4). We affirm that all human life—from conception to natural death—is sacred and worthy of protection, honor, and care as God’s image-bearing creation.
The Church and Christian Community
We believe in the universal Church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head, and in the importance of the local church as a community of worship, discipleship, fellowship, and mission. As an educational ministry connected to the local church, Oak Hill Christian Academy partners with families and congregations to nurture children in a life of Christian faith and obedience.
The Purpose of Christian Education
We believe that there is a biblical mandate upon parents and the church to educate children in the ways of the Lord (Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 4:10; Psalm 78:4). The purpose of a Christian school is to partner with parents and the church in this sacred training. Christian education equips children to know God’s Word, understand His world, love their neighbors, steward their gifts, and live faithfully in every sphere of life under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
Parents, Students, and Staff
We believe that parents bear the primary responsibility for the nurture and instruction of their children, and that the Christian school serves as a partner and support in this calling. Students are God’s image-bearers, uniquely gifted and deeply loved, and are to be guided toward wisdom, maturity, and faithful service. Christian educators serve as models of Christlike character, viewing their work as a calling empowered by the Holy Spirit and carried out with excellence, humility, and love.
Curriculum, Culture, and Mission
We believe that all truth is God’s truth, and therefore the Christian school curriculum must explore God’s creation, human experience, and all fields of study through the lens of Scripture. Students are taught to recognize the brokenness caused by sin and to participate in Christ’s work of redemption, healing, and restoration in the world. We aim to cultivate a community marked by grace, integrity, compassion, and joyful obedience to Jesus Christ.
