John 7:26-35
John 7:25–36 confronts us with a sobering question: Are we rejecting Jesus while sounding religious? The residents of Jerusalem thought they knew Jesus, but their confidence rested on assumptions Scripture never required. They expected a Messiah who fit their categories, and when Jesus did not conform, they missed the very God standing before them. We can do the same today when our view of Jesus is shaped more by background, preference, pain, or politics than by Scripture. This passage calls us to submit our assumptions to God’s Word, surrender our expectations to Christ, and rest in His sovereign purpose. Receive Jesus as He is, not as you assume Him to be.
